Random Comicz

Some of these comics may be confusing out of context, so I’m going to narrate this collection.

The Monster Comicz Reboot (2020-2021)

The first comic series I ever made was called Monster Comicz. I started drawing them when I was around 10 (I think?). It’s about a group of wacky monsters who do their best to put on a show and entertain the audience. I originally drew comics on sheets of paper with crayon, and continued drawing it with pencil in the blanks spaces of my agendas through middle school and high school.

When I got my first personal computer after graduating high school, I decided to reboot the series. Despite many years of drawing these characters, I knew very little about them. They didn’t even have names! I just referred to them as Blob Monster, Dog Monster, and Bird Monster. I wanted to explore the backstory of these characters in the reboot and solidify their personalities.

As you can see, the comics look terrible.

The jokes are alright (maybe too wordy), but I still cringe looking at the art. Oswald’s design changes from panel to panel. I knew nothing about typography and just used Arial, typing each line out individually and resizing them. The comics scream inexperience. It didn’t take long for me to realize this and update the style. I was (and still am in some ways) a rabid perfectionist with my art.

I like the character designs in Comic #3. A year made a difference with my experience in digital art. Unfortunately, this is where the reboot ends. I took way too long drawing the comics, seeking perfectly straight and rounded strokes. I redrew the first two comics in the style of Comic #3, but I never posted them. More time passed and I felt like I needed to redraw the comics again to improve the backgrounds amongst other details. I had been drawing the series in a program called Sketchbook, but for this background, I used Adobe Illustrator.

I posted this in 2023, and it was the last thing I update I gave for Monster Comicz. I did redraw Comic #1 again, but I didn’t post it. I felt no motivation to redraw Comic #2 again and Comic #3. I had burnt myself out on the series due to self-imposed high expectations. I took some time away from making comics until 2024 when I took a Sequential Art class that reinvigorated my love for the medium. That’s when I started Flightless Follies.

Before I made that last post for Monster Comicz, I had made some other random comics. I still get random comic ideas that don’t belong to any big series of their own. So this is where they shall live.

Nursery Rhyme Parodies (2022)

I have a track record for making two comics and then abandoning or changing the series. No idea why. Anyways, these are comics making fun of the logic, or lack thereof, in nursery rhymes. I posted these in 2022.

I had started using a fun little font called Comic Sans. “How fitting!” I thought. “It’s called Comic and I need a font for a comic!” Little did I know that Comic Sans is evil. It has been locked in the dungeon of “Never Use This Font” because of how often it was used in the early 2000s. To this very day, Graphic Design professors warn their students of the grave danger in releasing the notorious Comic Sans and Papyrus fonts upon their designs.

It’s Tulip! (2022)

These are comics I made about my pet guinea pig before she died in 2022.

College Art Class Comics

This comic was made using India Ink, water, and a brush. Also, I slapped an Instagram filter on the photos to make the lighting feel somewhat more consistent.

This comic was made using notecards, pen, and colored pencils.

Pikmin Comics (?)

I’m not sure if these would be classified as comics, but I’m in charge here, so I say they are! If you don’t know about Pikmin, it’s a Nintendo game series where you throw little creatures that collect treasures and food. I drew these for the Piktober drawing challenge on Instagram in 2024.

2025 Comics

Context for that Mario comic: the first image of Yoshi’s design in the Mario Galaxy movie was accidentally leaked by Pillsbury who uploaded an image of their Yoshi cookies online. It’s not as funny unless you were living in that moment and privy to that information, but I really wanted to draw Yoshi chowing down on a cookie.

The Great Coffee Caper Comics

In 2025, the demo for my brother and I’s video game, The Great Coffee Caper, was released. (You can wishlist the game on Steam)

2026 Comics

These are separate single panel comics, by the way. Just thought I’d mention that since they’re similar styles.

That’s all for now! I’ll update this page when I make more random comics.
